Navigate your relationship with your child with intention and connection

Your child means the world to you...

which is why you hate to admit that it’s been difficult to understand and emphatize with them at times. You’ve read parenting books or sought support from friends, but remain to be at a loss about how to help them. Then you get a call from their teacher with concerns you're oblivious of. You feel disconnected and you can’t begin to describe the pain of seeing them struggle with their experiences, emotions, and identity.

With play therapy, I will help you and your child connect with yourselves so you can tap into your innate resources and equip yourselves with effective emotional regulation strategies that feels right for the both of you.

Hi, I'm Elda. I'm a Registered Psychotherapist, and I specialize in working with

dysregulated children and youth.

Through play therapy, I help them develop effective

emotional regulation strategies, gain an understanding of themselves and foster self-trust

so they can realize their capacity to engage in meaningful life experiences.

"For children, toys are their words and play is their language." (G.Landreth, 2002)

I engage with children and youth through a language that feels most comfortable to them, play. This space allows them to unpack and process their experiences in a way that feels safe which then fosters healing and learning. They gain an understanding of the self, develop a connection within themselves, and are able to tap into their inner resources to use for coping.

How it works

  • Step 1

When you’re ready, schedule an Intake Session or a Mutual Fit Call and we’ll explore if it will be a good fit to work together.

  • Step 2

If we decide we’d like to work together, we can then reserve a weekly or bi-weekly spot specifically for you.

  • Step 3

Depending on what we discuss, I will regularly meet with you, your child/youth, or both for 50-minute sessions at our agreed-upon time. We will assess progress on an ongoing basis.

 Frequently Asked Questions & Answers:

  • Play therapy sessions are $180 + HST for 50 minutes and $270 + HST for 80 minutes.

  • My services are not covered by OHIP but many extended health benefits insurance providers do cover my services, partially or in full. Because every policy is different, I strongly encourage you to check your coverage if you intend to use it.

I don’t do direct billing so payment is required at the time of service. If my services are covered under your insurance benefits, you can submit the receipt to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

  • I accept cash, credit cards, and e-transfer. Payment is due at each session and I’ll give you your receipt following.

  • I do my best to help make mental health more accessible. Please feel free to let me know if you're experiencing financial difficulties to see how I can help.

  • Everyone has different needs, availabilities, and resources. What works for others may not work for you. You lead your healing journey and there are no rules that dictate how long or how often you should be going to therapy.

  • Yes. To take good care of myself and provide the best quality care for the clients I work with, I have to be firm with my workload limits. If your need for support is immediate, I encourage you to seek other therapists that may be a good fit.

Otherwise, if you’d like to receive notifications about openings for my services, you may sign up here.

  • I ask that you let me know at least 48-hours in advance of the need to cancel so that I may offer the spot to someone else and plan accordingly. If you cancel with less than 24-hours notice you will be charged the full session fee.

  • That is okay. And just like any relationship, sometimes it happens.

If I or the type of therapy doesn’t feel like a fit I always welcome a conversation. This is your care and I will support you in transitioning to another therapist if needed.

  • When you’re ready, book a Mutual Fit Call at a time that works for you. This is a 15-minute phone call where we get to explore if I can help you achieve your goals.

You deserve to work with someone you feel comfortable with so feel free to ask questions about my practice, areas of expertise, therapeutic style, and anything you’d like to know so you can gauge if it feels like a good fit.
