Clinical Supervision for BIPOC Psychotherapists in Ontario

Helping you navigate feelings of isolation so you can feel inspired and confident to do meaningful work

You’re a new or relatively new psychotherapist eager to learn, be inspired, and get support so you can do your best work yet. You know how much more valuable this can be if it occurs within a community of supportive therapists where your truth and lived experiences are honored.

It is essential to have a space where nuanced conversations about intersectional identities and systemic issues are welcome, especially for those of marginalized identities, where these dialogues are necessary.

“When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else. This is not just a grab-bag candy game.”

— Toni Morrison

Hi, I'm Elda. I'm a Registered Psychotherapist, and I provide

clinical supervision to racialized psychotherapists.

APPROACH

My supervisory style is similar to my therapeutic style in that it has to be collaborative and founded on a space where one feels safe for it to be conducive to learning and growing. This requires me to be aware and regularly reflect on the power dynamics present in the session.

I honor and welcome my supervisees' intersectional identities, learning styles, and lived experiences and encourage them to hold their truth as they reflect on their experience in the therapist-client dyad and think critically of systemic issues that they and their clients may be a part of.

It is my goal to help foster therapists’ skills to practice competently and ethically by engaging in critical thinking, groundedness, and self-regulation.

I hope to mentor and support therapists so they may have meaningful and sustainable careers in the field of mental health.
